Conventional Fire Alarms have been around for many years and the technology has changed little in that time although design and reliability have improved significantly. Conventional fire alarms are a well-proven as established technology protecting many hundreds of thousands of properties worldwide.
A Conventional Fire Alarm System is often the natural choice for smaller systems or where budget constraints exist as these can be cost effective, typical installations are to be found in shops and offices.
In a typical Conventional Fire Alarm System, if a trigger is received from a detector or manual call point, the Fire Alarm Control Panel signals the condition to other devices such as alarm sounders and remote signalling equipment
Conventional fire detectors are normally connected to the Fire Control Panel via dedicated circuits, each circuit protecting a designated 'Zone' or 'Area' of the building (the maximum size of which will often be governed by local standards). Detectors have two states, Normal healthy and Alarm.
The Fire Control Panel will normally be arranged in a set number of Zones or Circuits e.g. 1, 2, 4, 8 etc. and have 2 separate sounder circuits.
CFP 2-8 Zone Conventional Fire Alarm Control Panel
The CFP two-wire fire panel is designed to work with Apollo's AlarmSense® range of detectors, call points and sounders.
Most conventional fire alarm systems are designed to work with two pairs of wires per zone: one pair for detection devices such as smoke detectors, heat detectors and manual call points; the other for alarm devices such as bells, sounders or strobes. By using different voltage bands for quiescent and alarm states, AlarmSense® components can be connected to the same pair of supply wires.
When powered and controlled by the CFP two-wire fire panel, this reliable technology takes all the complexity out of fire alarm systems design, leading to quicker, less expensive and more flexible installation.
