Fire Detection and Alarms

An automatic fire detection and alarm system should be designed to detect fire and raise the alarm at the appropriate moment. It should
not make its presence known until it needs to, at which point it must alert those who need to respond. With the Fire Service becoming less tolerant of false alarms, it is essential that your fire alarm system is installed and maintained correctly.

Fire Risk Assessments

Following the Regulatory Reform Order enforced in October 2006, employers are responsible for fire safety in their premises. Fire certificates will no longer be issued, they will be replaced by fire risk assessments conducted by the

person responsible for the premises. GD Systems have trained personnel who can conduct this risk assessment and assist you in preparing your fire safety plan.

Alarm Monitoring

Figures from the government indicate that a high percentage of fires occur when a building is unoccupied. A monitored alarm can assure a swift response from the Fire Service at the first detection of a fire. We can install a fully monitored line that connects the alarm to a monitoring station whose personnel will take appropriate action.

Fire Extinguishers

Regular maintenance of fire
extinguishers is essential. BS5306 Part 3 recommends that your fire extinguishers are serviced at least annually to ensure that they will always function in an emergency.

Fire extinguishers will provide many years of reliable fire protection only if properly maintained and regularly
serviced by a competent engineer. Our engineers will visit on a regular basis to ensure your equipment is kept ready for the moment you really need it.

Emergency Lighting

Emergency lighting is necessary to adequately illuminate the escape routes from the premises in order for people to safely exit. Where escape routes rely upon artificial lighting, then an emergency lighting system to illuminate them is required in case of a mains electricity power failure. GD Systems can advise on, supply and install a full range of maintained and non-maintained lighting, exterior, interior and exit lights, conversion kits and self-test equipment.
