Higher Uppacott
Higher Uppacott, on Dartmoor is a rare example of a medieval longhouse. This was a single storey building that was shared by people and cattle under a single roof.
Dartmoor National Park Authority, who have owned the building since 1979 required a fire alarm to protect both the historic wing and the adjoining outbuildings that have been converted into living quarters.
Foxleigh Grove Nursing Home
Foxleigh Grove is a family owned nursing home. Originally a family home, the building was converted to a nursing home in 1985 and subsequently extended by the owners Mr & Mrs Aram. The original nurse call was part of the conversion and hence was 30 years old. Mark Aram, General Manager said “The nurse call system had given many years of useful service, but was coming to the end of its life.
